It’s been around 15 years since I last visited the gennett poplar. It’s georgias second tallest tree and it is very near as in within about four or 5 miles of Ellijay, Georgia. I need to get back out to see it. I’ve been feeling melancholy for the past few days about my ex. It’s amazing how that comes and it goes.
Anyway, it’s a cool tree. It wasn’t in good health then and I wonder if it’s even still alive.
@Da_Gut I went to a party a few weeks ago that was held on some private land very near there, so we walked by.
It's still standing. I don't really know what an unhealthy very old poplar looks like, so I can't say if it's healthy or not, but it was neat to see.
I think it's just outside the city limits, which is wild.
