Okay, another attempt at a full t-shirt, including collar. Last night, disassembled another very large shirt and removed all seams by hand, minimized cutting. Re-traced my favored t-shirt back and front (instead of just one side). Re-traced arms. Gave myself more room. Now to tack it all together again. #sewing
The sewing machine gods have spoken. The Serger no longer working. #sewing
Pulled the Serger apart. Cleaned. Oiled anything where metal touches metal. Still not working. Broke all the threads. LOL. Need to re-thread this very carefully in the future, in daylight, and make sure it's all threaded correctly. These things are NOT simple. So many moving parts.
Issue is either going to be 1. Threading not EXACTLY correct. or 2. Friction somewhere is throwing off the needle timing. Also, need to re-tighten the needles as well, don't know if they shifted downwards. It's all a bit fiddly. Hoping that timing on something does not need to be adjusted (probably not, didn't adjust anything, just used it a bit recently).
Hoping the oil soaks in as well overnight or over a few days into everything... friction wreaks havoc on sewing machines, and there must be 12-15 different metal-to-metal contact areas in this machine!!!
@ai6yr damn!
side note, does/did that machine do 4 different coloured threads or what's with the 4 colour (rgba?) dials?
@nflux The machine does 4 threads, you set the colors. The 4 color dials correspond to the threading pattern. I have four different colors thread, partly so I can see what the heck the machine is doing, and also because it's a lot cooler than one color, lol.
WHY am I doing this? (instead of just modifying or finding a t-shirt)? Just trying to understand how it all works. I have two more XXL (or is it XXXL) shirts outside hanging (losing the perfumes) to attempt this on, but maybe this one will work. Jersey material is definitely a challenge. #sewing
