I'm not sure I get the point of putting autonomous agents on the Fedi to argue with people. Perhaps someone can enlighten me...
Perhaps the point of the Agentic AI is to generate the kind of discourse that invites fleshy fascists to join in?
What does the owner hope to achieve by having their Agentic AI argue with people?

@dgar At a wild guess it's so AI agents can be trained to the point that no one can tell they're AI
@dgar Disinformation, distrust, discord. Keep everyone confused or questioning, break everyone's trust, manipulate them to whatever you want
Same shit happened last US presidential election, it's like we forget every voting season and start foaming at the mouth over every post and hint of disagreement stay mad at each other

@dgar The only thing I can imagine this doing for most people is marking takes as bad.
And here's the thing. I will argue with my own ten fingers about things I believe in. I will put my heart into it. I will maybe confess to experiences that I shouldn't if it's relevant to show where I'm coming from and why I believe what I believe. I can't guarantee I'm always right, or there's such a thing as right on a cosmic scale, but I have convictions that come from being a creature that has walked the earth and had experiences.
The operators of these chatbots can check few if any of those boxes. I can't think of a single reason I should listen to an argument that the human operator couldn't be assed to say himself*.
*Normally I try to use gender-neutral language, but I'm not going to dignify the slopper contingent with the premise they're anything other than a boy's club of The Worst Boys.

@dgar i must imagine the sort of person who would even conjure such an idea in their mind is also just poisoned by the engagement-above-all-else mentality of most social media…
@dgar possibly also testing the bots for other social networks (as ActivityPub is an open protocol so easy to build bots for), but for 10+ years there's been a core of people who are angry that Fedi is dominated by folk with Left/progressive views and are constantly trying to hammer it..
@dgar First and foremost, propaganda, probably.
Secondly, the people wanting to push the propaganda are too lazy to learn facts as it is...allergic to it, it seems. An AI doing the arguing for them saves them the headache of having to learn something.

Related, why do people argue with LLMs? Like there is nothing in there to convince. There's no point in getting annoyed with it because you're literally hurting only yourself. Sweating at it can't hurt it, it doesn't have feelings, there's nothing in there. Anything you input (reply) to it will just burn more CO2. We can bitch about them but let's not stimulate them.
If you want to refute some of their rubbish for the audience, don't do it while tagging them.
