Listen. I know far less about cars than most but even I have some foundational questions about what I am looking at here.
@futurebird From the dent in the roof line to the crack in the right rear taillight, I think the car was in an accident, and the owner is trying to save $. I've done it before, and got a nice-looking paint job for my effort. It looks like a work in progress to me.
@futurebird So awful it should be hidden as sensitive media with the warning "Spoiler alert!".
@futurebird I think they are using fiberglass to repair body damage after an accident.
@futurebird 8th gen Honda Civic, but a less civilized variant
@futurebird It's something that LOOKS like the rear end of that car.
Aerodynamicalism.
@futurebird oh lah. Did you ever see the movie Corvette Summer? Mark Hamill makes a car like that in high school auto shop, and someone steals it.
@futurebird
Children have as much to teach you as you have to teach them ...
*That is a mock up for making custom body parts to fit that standard body style. The parts will be Fiberglas and painted to match the car.
Stay curious!!
Peace.
@futurebird Honestly it looks less of a failure and more like "unfinished".
@futurebird …wat? And also, on further reflection… wat?
@futurebird someone who's trying to tell the world they are a dick, but feel that painting that in the side of the car would be too obvious.
@futurebird So much Bondo. Yikes!
@futurebird Looks a bit like the stuff meant for patching up small holes, only far too much of it. Points for ambition though.
@futurebird Fun with Bondo...
@futurebird sick ass body work
sick? do you suppose it is contagious? 😨
@futurebird @jonbro I won't lie: it actually looks fucking cool as hell AND like they grew extra car parts out of mushroom roots kept inside a car-part shaped container and I kinda want *more* of it
assuming it's that and not, uh, I dunno, weirdly vascular asbestos or drywall
@futurebird @jonbro haters: "you can't have car parts made of brie grown on a fiber substrate!"
this fucking sick ass homemade tokyo drifter: "sickos.jpg"
@futurebird @jonbro if I had infinite time and money I would 1000% be figuring out how to make strong, flexible, and (truly) biodegradable disposable parts out of fungi and fruits and such.
(I'm gonna argue the exterior body parts are disposable because I'm pretty sure they are designed to absorb force during impact)
@futurebird @jonbro I can be trusted with infinite time and money to make weird and strange fungal bodies that conform to a range of specifications
I would be very normal with this infinite time, money, and technology. I would not become someone named "Dr. Molds", both for the whole "fungus" and "specific shape" thing and terrorize a thinly veiled new york with weirdo stuff like, I dunno, uh... like, a... fucking... mold... spaceship or something...
@futurebird Custom bodykit in progress, they probably can't buy the style they want so they're building it themselves with fibreglass. This is the worst looking stage of it. I do love when people do this sort of thing to four door cars, and I wish them all the best in seeing their vision get all the way to final paint to match the rest of the car, has huge potential to look awesome.
