So why would I launch https://columnly.social right before Pixelfed's new webUI?
Columnly is built on several of the new Pixelfed webUI components, and I wanted to test them in production and also Nuxt with hybrid rendering to catch any pesky bugs before I deploy this to millions of people.
The new Pixelfed webUI is much better than Columnly and the current experience.
I can't wait ☺️
A multi-column web client for Mastodon
Would it support advanced features other AP engines support like Markdown formatting?
Is there a container image for self-hosting? Would be interesting to compare it with Phanpy.
@skobkin It already supports that, and I'll be open sourcing it after its feature complete. It is compatible with Mastodon, Pixelfed, Loops, Gotosocial and a dozen other projects, including Wordpress and Hollo.
It's a NuxtJS app that runs in SPA mode, you could technically host it statically I think.
It's basically my testbed for the new Pixelfed webUI
@dansup Nice!
Would like to try it with my GoToSocial instance when it's released.
@skobkin GotoSocial is supported right now, and Columnly runs in SPA mode, aka client side and is basically a static site, we don't track or log anything. You will see once it's open sourced, I took a lot of effort to make this privacy friendly, with local translations and alt-text generation, it's really cool.
@dansup Its the same idea like tweetdeck, I guess
@yaqubpk Yeah, its inspired by the Mastodon advanced layout, but much more customizable!
@dansup need to check that, does it work like tweetdeck where one would use twitter account; like I want to login via mastodon and set columns, or is it a standalone separate registration required fediverse instance
@yaqubpk Its just a web client, you log in with your existing mastodon account on another server (or gotosocial, pixelfed, loops, and others) and it communicates directly with your server, with privacy first features (translations, alt-text generation, ocr)
Install Fedizen
