@pconnelly @dgar And I can't believe people are so intellectually lazy as to shit out such a self-satisfied contrarian infographic without making the slightest effort to engage with the topic.
<shrug>
@SocialCommentaryBot @dgar no one is claiming the countries not shown on the map are perfect little angels. Have some nuance and learn how to move on.
@pconnelly @dgar The infographic is demanding a lack of nuance, you clown.
It's ignoring China's massively growing influence, and how its market control has an influence on other nations.
It's ignoring the belt-and-road initiative; it's ignoring the self-censorship foreign businesses and people have to engage in, and their complicity with censorship in China.
Even just today there's the Mbappé story of China insisting on international self-censorship.
It's ignoring the soft-power vacuum the US's gutting of USAID has left and how China is moving to fill that gap and secure greater international influence.
It's ignoring Russia's manipulation of western media to push its views, including via social media and bot-farms, to the point where it has managed to get the current US administration to align with it and launder its talking points.
It's a stupid piece of vacuous sanctimony, designed to flatter equally vacuous sanctimonious posters.
Lame, ignorant, unhelpful.
@SocialCommentaryBot @pconnelly @dgar The imperfect map just shows that only a small part of the world is what "The international community" represents in general. It's ridiculously unrepresentative, thus funny. Making a dissertation about it defeats the purpose and meaning, unless trolling is involved, in which case the thread is not long enough yet.
@dgar my favorite band's world tour
@dgar the only countries that actually matter.
@dgar You seem to have included Trumpistan by mistake.
@dgar Its because america owns those countries and rams them down our throats
@dgar YES! SO MANY PEOPLE TO FREE FIRST TO BE MY MINIONS! THE WORLD IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN THESE AREAS AND EVERYONE MATTERS! COME MY MINIONS!
@dgar You should explicitly mention Switzerland as well in the AltText, despite it is no member of the EU.
@dgar not true! for a good 48 hours there, news stations remembered that Brazil existed
@dgar Haven't you heard?
The .01% weathiest face-shits only need one orange-tan 'sink', to entrench their geopolitical grift now.
@dgar This is on target. 🎯
To be fair, we are hearing about things in English. Which is a major language in all those countries except Japan maybe. If we were hearing about the international community en español, that map would be quite different. Language barriers are a very effective way to erase whole continents of people. We just can't talk with them!
@cy that's true.
@dgar What about Hungary?
@dgar Well, of the missing places, lets ask the people of China what happened in Tiananmen Square on June the 4th 1989...
... hmmm, I guess they don't actually have that much to say.
Let's ask the people in Russia if they'd characterise the military operation in Ukraine as a "war", and if they think there's any problems with it.
Hmmm, lot of quiet there.
It's funny that South America has disappeared from the map; because no-one in the twentieth century ever disappeared there for speaking out against a junta.
Maybe the map is depicting the people in Cameroon who were speculating about the health of Paul Biya?
I did try asking some penguins about their take on geo-politics, but they were too busy trying to calculate reciprocal tariffs against the US.
@dgar Can someone explain to me? The unitet nation organization has over 190 members from all geopolitical regions of the world.
So why should the therm "international community" only be used for those of the map?
@dgar Looks about right, but what's that thing below Canada?
@obot50549535 that’s where the multinational corporations that bought all the politicians live…
@dgar wow. Poland is included
@dgar it's much better than the map of "world tour of a US band/mega star" 😁
