Apple's new $700 iPad Mini is better in almost every way than the Lenovo Tab One, which is roughly the same size.
But the Tab One cost me just $100 last week on sale at Best Buy. I use it for movies on airplanes and on the couch at home. It's more than good enough.
The Tab One screen is 1340 x 800 pixels, and 480 nits brightness.
The iPad Mini A20 screen is 2316 x 1512 pixels, and 1100 nits brightness. Also nano-textured anti-glare surface.
One of these things is not like the other, and I have bad enough eyesight that a poor screen is a deal-breaker for me.
@cstross All true, but I spent hours watching the other day on a 12-hour flight with no eyestrain. It's good enough. (The resolution difference on a screen that small is less significant than it sounds. Brightness is a bigger issue (for me).
@dangillmor that is why I will never be an Apple customer.

@dangillmor I think that is true of almost all Apple products. They are better but for sane people not better by enough to justify the massive price difference. But some people (with more money than common sense IMHO) insist on buying "the best" regardless of cost even if the capability is way beyond their needs.
