The NYT Seemingly Does Marissa Mayer Dirty

@daringfireball Whether because it was too limiting or too overwhelming, feeling the need to use an AI to complete a basic question about your kids like this is not something that is going to come across as relatable to anyone. Mayer probably invoked Dazzle because of her current work but the average person is going to look at this and think it is weird. I am not sure the anecdote from the reporter was misrepresenting anything.
@daringfireball There is no misunderstanding. Her/your clarified version of the anecdote, which she/you seem to think is exonerating, is *exactly* what she's being roasted for.
@daringfireball
Her explanation doesn't make things better. She voluntarily came up with an example which needed explaining.
Also the boast that the AI came up with examples of her daughter's achievements which she had *forgotten* just digs the hole deeper.
@daringfireball Your quote of her explanation does not make her any more sympathetic.
@daringfireball Summing up your children in three bullet points *is* laughably limiting, but if that's what the assignment asks for, it's also a great experience to share with your kids three things that stand out to you, a grown adult with lived experience, that two 10-year-olds might not see themselves.
There is simply no context in which offloading that to an AI, and then using that experience to pump up your AI product, isn't insane. Marissa did Marissa (and her kids) dirty, not the NYT.
@daringfireball "It's gettin' so a businessman can't expect no return from a fixed fight. Now, if you can't trust a fix, what can you trust? For a good return, you gotta go bettin' on chance—and then you're back with anarchy, right back in the jungle."
Poor Marissa
