@raewae This situation reminds me of the last page of Calvino's Invisible Cities.
The inferno of the living is not something that will be; if there is one, it is what is already here, the inferno where we live every day, that we form by being together. There are two ways to escape suffering it:
The first is easy for many: accept the inferno and become such a part of it that you can no longer see it.
The second is risky and demands constant vigilance and apprehension: seek and learn to recognize who and what, in the midst of the inferno, are not inferno, then make them endure, give them space.
@neauoire We have landed at the PC and have added our reply.

@and solid reply, holy shit.
~~I'm thinking of adding your breakdown list to my notes on Malleable systems.~~

I'm just going to link to the thread instead X)
@neauoire Feel free to work any of those points into your notes. May also do the same for my website, too. That bulleted list is something that has been bouncing around our skull for a while cause of AI in PLDev which raises so many questions for me. Most of them are some variant of "why bother?" and "what's the point of this?".
@neauoire "uncivil demonisation of people who use LLMs" 🤡 much? the people who want to use LLMs do not seem to care about the very uncivil training of these LLMs. Funny how this works.
@neauoire "If people here continue to oppose LLM use, I will have no choice but to retreat into solipsism."
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@lrhodes you just wait til I tell this to my robowife
@neauoire It must be very disconcerting to have the computer consistently tell you you're right and make good points, and then log into a forum and find that the computer is suddenly telling you that you're wrong and that those points actually aren't good at all.
@neauoire
if lwn.net has an accurate account of the events of the latest linux maintainers summit,
there was a response to [a concern around code authors using LLMs no longer understanding their contributions leading to the kernel spinning out of control] which said that no one really had control over the kernel anyways
which seemed a little disengenuous to me and a little worrying
