This is an odd assignment from the teacher, but as a teacher I would rather have "I couldn't think of anything, gosh this is hard" in place of AI content.

Because these tasks we make as teachers... it's not because we want the output from the tasks.

As I tell my 9th grade students all the time "I do not eat homework, it's not what nourishes me"

Teachers make tasks so you experience them. Whatever the point was of this exercise? You've missed it!

@futurebird Reading this, I think of the daughter and other children like her who are growing up with a parent who is putting all their personal information into an AI agent, enough for the agent to provide this answer. There will be lawsuits and broken families. The daughter is only ten years old and doesn’t have a choice.

OK point taken, but still ... just say "I can't get this done" because having the computer do it is pointless.

It really is like using a calculator to do times table drills.

@futurebird @Ailbhe On the one hand, that's true, but I also feel it's somehow fundamentally worse than that.

I don't have kids because they'd be doomed but also because I wouldn't be able to convincingly pretend they weren't a bunch of work I don't care much about. Parents say "Oh you'll love them" but then parents do stuff like this and, like... what even is "love?"

I wanna call it "manners" but that also seems weak.

Well, it's not good for the kids, that's for sure!

I mean, if that study from China is anything to go by, having the computer do the homework lets you do it twice as fast and get perfect marks on it
