other than being a dead platform with no future, the real problem with the fediverse is the decentralized nature of it. on paper it was supposed to set us free from the censors of the corporate web but the knock on effect is that people form their own gay little enclaves where they sit around jacking each other off all day. defederation and catty inter-instance drama further compound the issue.
nothing is more dull to me than stagnating in a circle jerk where people affirm all the things you already believe. i /want/ to have my views challenged, to see things in a different light. this is how you grow as a person and develop a sound theory of mind. none of this happens on the fediverse, and this is why it's rife with mentally stunted imbeciles who can't polemicize themselves out of a paper bag.

@protos @sun it's become worse. now, when you want to make a new account, you HAVE to send a selfie to verify that you're not a bot. they claim that photos won't be stored but it's a gross violation of privacy. just lost my alt because i refuse to play ball with this skulduggery. my main is locked for 3 months (!) for proverbially wishing "both sides kill each other"

@sun i can see why you feel that way, it is truly dire. i use both at the same time and i'm happy with neither, tho i feel that x dot com is more stimulating to me personally.
there should be some sort of middle ground where we aren't subject to gay nigger propaganda and censorship at the behest of shareholders, but also not fragmented to such a degree where you can't even see half the content because of defederations.
