Tonight's movie night movie will be, "Mayday (2026)." Yes, it's another AppleTV movie - gotta make use of that subscription - but this one has Deadpool in it!

@bigzaphod It’s actually our tentative selection for next week (though a lot can change between now and then!)
I’ll reiterate my recommendation for “Wildwood” — even if you don’t enjoy it just as movie (we loved it), it’s a technical marvel worth seeing.
@bigzaphod also the scene in the closet with the sex worker was excellent
@bigzaphod Absolutely agree. I went in expecting a 2.5/3 star action movie, and wasn't expecting to catch some feels and have such an overtly nuanced, positive message about empathy and politics in it.
@vampiress I didn't expect that at all - I figured it was going to be a rah-rah kind of Top Gun knockoff and it was something better than that.
@bigzaphod I had fun. It’s not great. But it was fun enough.
@bigzaphod Went in with so low expectations and really liked it. Had no idea "the guy from the second Harry Potter movie" had so much range
@bigzaphod i look forward to hearing your thoughts about it
Mayday was a ton of fun. Ryan Reynolds can really only play himself, but it works wonderfully opposite Kenneth Branagh. We enjoyed every minute of this - lots of laughs and some really good action scenes, too. It's also deeper and had a lot more heart than I expected it to have. Somehow both nostalgic and fresh. We had a great time watching it.
