okay, I’ll give it to him, “He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory” is a good line
in the grand scheme of things, big-name politicians are the Vince from Sham-Wow! of the organization they’re representing and the backers who get them booked on stages and in statehouses.
any given big-name politician may be very well versed on the topics at hand at any given moment, may even be considered an expert in that particular field, but it does not really change the overall calculus of how the system works to put them in the places they end up in, which is how sometimes we get an Obama and sometimes we get Donnie. the system is unfit for purpose and must be replaced.
@djsundog I mean, I like how we got Obama. He was Harvard Law Review president, then taught constitutional law at Chicago. THEN went into politics. Learn the actual goddamned job first then do it.
As opposed to almost everyone else in the job, who fuck around in politics with almost no legal training, or negative training like That Fucking Guy.
It should be illegal to do higher politics without a relevant degree.
however, once again I am reminding myself (and maybe others) that when a “public figure” makes a scheduled speech in front of a crowd, it is the edited and refined writing of a team of people preparing for many combined work-hours to produce the desired output, not simply the result of a person with a talent for turning a phrase.
