What is a fancy word for "potato-shaped" ?
@futurebird Temple.
Example: My body is a temple
@futurebird sleeping-catoid.
@futurebird I've heard "oblong" or something like that.
If you mean the saddle-shaped potatoes deep-fried variety that Pepsi-Cola/Frito-Lay puts in a can, and the less precisely engineered ones of similar shape that everyone else puts in a bag, the word is 'biconcave.' That's not non-binary, so maybe we can all get our biconvex behinds behind it. A full 22% of US potatoes now choose this shape as as the shortest path to our bellies, matched by the fraction of potato-eaters who find it the shortest path around caloric insufficiency, likely to jump with AI-potatoes and the tariff on French fries, and if you think 22% is insubstantial, that's the efficiency of the most expensive solar panels.
@futurebird Ellipsoidal, ovoid, ovaloid, ovaliform
@futurebird patatoïde is one of my favourite French words https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/patato%C3%AFde
This is the perfect word for #PicaTheCat now that she has gained some weight on her increased medication.
@futurebird @graham_knapp I'm of the opinion that there should be some pics for the whole world to be able to judge, scientifically, of Pica's patatoïdosity
I will see what herself permits today.
@futurebird not so fancy - spudly.
@futurebird Possibly a bit too general, but Solanaceoform is the first thing that springs to mind.
@futurebird Potato-sihouetted?
@futurebird meteomorphic (also made it up)
@futurebird meteors and potatoes are often described as being the shape of each other
#PicaTheCat loves this one since it has "meat" in it.
@futurebird meteomorphic beast
shaped like a thing that causes problems if it arrives unexpectedly
@futurebird making things up: tubermorphic
@futurebird
This is a surprisingly awesome question because we would generally make the "fancy word" for something-shaped by sticking -oid or -morph onto the ancient Greek or Latin word for the thing, but of course the ancient Europeans didn't have potatoes.
