It makes me a little sad to think that if this were preserved suddenly in ash the people of the far future would just assume it was a warehouse storing a bunch of blocks for some big company and not an artistic comment on the same.
@futurebird It should be a tacit goal of art to be not just misunderstood by future archaeologists, but ontologically inaccessible
@futurebird my depressing reaction was that if it were here in the USA there'd be instant block flights.
@futurebird All I think when I see it is lemme in there to playyyyyyy!
@futurebird I think it pretty clearly has Ritual Significance
Although I suppose my original lament is about the ritual significance being lost ... so maybe I shouldn't be so hostile to these theories.
@futurebird
I saw some TED talk about belonging ("where are you from?") and part of it was what rituals you use. She gave the example of making a cup of coffee every morning as a ritual - something you get value from doing regularly I suppose you would say. So by that definition a great many things do actually have ritual significance, just not religious significance.
I am going to make a ritual hole and have a ritual where I put everyone in it who says the artifacts have ritual significance.

Which means we should reconsider how we interpret the relics left by people from the past, no?
Maximum respect to any archaeologist who says "We have concluded that this is a location where the original inhabitants were just goofin' around".
