People on Instagram cheering on Poland wanting a US military base, like the US didn’t ignore an entire god damn destabilising attack on Poland’s grid only a year ago.

@hacks4pancakes i'm absolutely not surprised. imo polish people don't really care about foreign politics and still see the US as an ally because of its role in abolishing the communist regime. we're also in a tight spot bc of the russian invasion on ukraine and russian attacks in here, so a new us base is seen as a russia deterrent. euroscepticism is strong and historically allyship with european states when war happens ended bad for us (see ww2). poland isn't called little america for no reason

@hacks4pancakes in 2025 the number of people on X/Twitter declaring they are from Poland increased 5x, making it 20million. But somehow I'm not seeing every adult Pole talking anything about this platform. You'd think that if it suddenly won that big, it would be noticable.

I have no statistics on Instagram, but I doubt it's different. I assume 1 in 5 user is real. You're looking at manufactured consent.

@hacks4pancakes We already have troops stationed in Poland. A detachment of the 10th Mountain Division has been in Poland for years.
Poland went to an Offensive posture in September.
