Woke up, still super pissed off about BC snap election results. Still cussing Eby for screwing over BCers before quitting as leader. Eby should have been ousted as leader in 2020 or should have learned to work better with BC Green party for better government. His arrogance & BC NDP caucus cowardice led him to a massive self owned loss. A piss poor political decision that handed the Conservatives a majority BC government.
Less than 50% of registered voters showed up to vote. My riding flipped to Conservatives. Saanich South now has a Conservative Mayor & MLA. Rishi Sharma ran as a Liberal in past federal election but had since changed to Conservative.
Many provincial ridings flipped to Conservatives 😣 I'm in political mourning.
LD may be more progressive than the MapleMAGAs he's surrounded by but he's still a BC Conservative - we know full well it's a party full of bigots. Don't even try tell us that they're not bigots when several of us POC & several of us disabled/otherwise marginalized folks in BC have multiple personal experiences with Conservatives bigotry & their hateful politics 😡 Don't tell us to be happy that people who want us deported/dead/imprisoned are back in power again. We are sad/upset/frustrated/anxious. We remember how cruel BC Liberals were towards marginalized folks & how they had no respect for environment too. We're expecting the worse to come.
It's only a matter of time before the leopards start eating LD's face/they turn on each other/infighting for power starts up again. Conservatives always flip on each other.
It's only thing that brings me any ray of hope for BC, on a depressing post election Sunday morning.

I am so sorry. I've lived under fashy red state government pre Trump and of course everywhere is fashy now in the US. Nobody should be telling you that you have to pretend everything is okay. It's not. Let's hope a taste of Maple MAGA insanity wakes everybody up for the next election.

That's what it boils down to with people who have no empathy. Our one saving grace that has us speed running authoritarianism is that we are fighting some of history's dumbest people. I said for months that if Trump tries to start a full scale war it's going to accelerate the fall of the regime, and here we are.
How are the Conservatives perceived on AI? That's been changing a lot of minds even in MAGAland. If they embrace it they'll be toast more quickly.

Not a good time to tell me, a disabled POC caregiver woman about how things probably won't be that bad under BC Conservatives. Many marginalized folks are still suffering consequences of harms done by BC Liberals. They were our last conservatives political party, under Liberals name, who led BC government before BC NDP took hold for awhile.
The 2026 BC Conservatives are far worse & many are openly bigoted. We're fucked for awhile.
BC NDP leaned further & further right, leaving many leftists in the dust. They killed their own party & Eby’s arrogance put this final nail on their leadership coffin. Their policies almost mirrored conservatives values.
@PhoenixSerenity Here in Quebec City I'm in the only leftist district, and the rest is surrounded by conservatives. The provincial conservative party didn't exist 20 years ago. Among people who were elected, there are anti-vax people, 51st state enablers and a woman who called the party's chief the "great vibrator in chief".
