Despite massive investments and widespread hype around artificial intelligence, the technology has delivered zero financial payoff to corporate America outside of tech. Revenue per worker is rising for the Mag 7 but is flat for the S&P 493. And there are still no signs of AI boosting productivity growth https://www.apollo.com/wealth/insights-news/insights/daily-spark/no-signs-of-ai-payoff-outside-the-tech-sector i can’t wait to see how this all goes down between wars, inflation, job losses and AI. Tiny percentage of humans always have unleashed hell on the rest of us out of greed
a friend told me today that her boss required her to use AI for her job, an engineer's job, a job that can kill people. AI does not hold an engineering license, AI does not take depositions, sit in the courtrooms, or go to prison when people die, But her boss uses AI as their AI fueled investors are on the AI hypewagon.
@nixCraft For the average person, AI is a commodity, a comfortable way to google, and a tool to quickly build average content with questionable precision. As a result, what we get is lazier individuals, and the internet bloated with mediocre articles, which feed random answers. Productivity is not higher, because we end up using the spare time for other stuff, and the worst part is the loss in content quality, not to mention the risk to lose our jobs
@nixCraft And revenue/worker is sus as a metric anyway—they can easily juice it by doing unsustainable layoff frenzies and lowering the denominator
@nixCraft "Tiny percentage of humans always have unleashed hell and the overwhelming majority of us supported them out of greed" Here, I fixed it for you. You're welcome.
The main problem is the majority of folks, thinking they can have a slice of the cake somehow. (We must organize our neighborhoods to small, resilient communities based on mutual help, self sufficient, interconnected, supportive to each other. Nothing else will work.)
