@Cheeseness latency is a massive factor, reliability too

@Cheeseness I was comparing the 3DS to PC desktop
@upmultimedia From that "can an OEM design/preconfigure an equivalent experience with what's available" perspective (which wasn't part of your initial comparison/reflections), I don't feel like there's a meaningful distinction. The Steam Deck and SteamOS are one answer to that question, and demonstrate at least some of the pieces necessary to build these sorts of experiences exist in the PC hardware/software space (whether anybody takes advantage of them in the future or not, who can say)
@upmultimedia Speeds will come down to hardware choices, of course, but feels solveable (or was when hardware was affordable).
@upmultimedia How long it takes to suspend/resume? My only recent experience (like I say, I don't have much use for this stuff) is my Steam Deck turning itself off when I spend too long writing notes on my desktop. When I power it back up, it feels instant (subjective, but definitely faster than a normal boot on any device I own) and whatever game I've been testing is still running and in focus. That's regular Linux functionality AFIK, and I assume equivalent to other PC OSes
