@domi i swear i've had charges declined for including/forgetting my middle initial (I have cards with and without for complicated reasons)
@azonenberg i’ve NEVER heard of the zip code thing, maybe that’s an US-ism
over here the standard is card number + CVV + expiry, but some fuckwards also ask you for your name/surname. i always enter some variation of “nope nope” or “fuck off” and i haven’t had the card declined because of this even once
@domi @azonenberg aiui name is only sent when performing 3ds2, though i haven't checked
@artemist@mildlyfunctional.gay @domi@donotsta.re @azonenberg@ioc.exchange Yes, name + full address is sent only during 3DSv2 authentication. If your bank is feeling on the ball, they might use that as an input to their fraud risk scoring to decide whether to challenge you or not. If they're not feeling on the ball they just throw it into /dev/null
Digits from post code and address are checked via AVS, at authorization time. The result is advisory to the merchant. Many will reverse the auth on mismatch and tell you things were declined.
All you need to charge a card is the PAN, but if that's all you have you're at very high risk of chargeback
@domi wait what? I thought the standard info you had to submit to make a charge was name on card, PAN, and either CVV2 or billing zip code depending on magnitude of the charge
