Listening to the end of beta WoW Forever podcast, & one guy's so excited about his TORCH. Which, you can carry a torch & it lights up around you, at ridiculous CPU cost. Great.
But all I can think of is the Shovel from Mythic Quest. Get some mundane gear & you can make a very minor change in the world! … until the asshole lead dev turns it into a whole EPIC THING.
In Elder Scrolls Online, you could get a lamp trinket from Almalexia, & it was useful but not world-changing.
