So, wait, has NaNoWriMo rebranded as "Novel November", paid for by ProWritingAid, which used to be a spell/grammar checker but now is (you guessed it) an "'AI' grammar checker"--in short, yet another way for a griftslop machine to grab human-written text?
Do I have that right?
Because it was ProWritingAid's "donation" that kicked off the whole NaNo "no, no no, the plagiarism machine is GOOD actually, and if you don't let it steal your work you're ABLEIST" thing, so far as I recall.

This is super weird. What's next, an "AI" startup (founded by a guy who "wrote" a hagiography of Zuckerberg) taking over the Author's Guild, via that "Human Authored Certification" bullshit?

@lilithsaintcrow Interesting. Especially since The Great Disturbance, I've heard a variety of people not affiliated with any product or organization use "Novel November" to refer generically to the cultural event of writing 50,000 words in November.
But that doesn't mean that what you're saying isn't also the case.
