Short recap on my trip to Scotland to attend Le Tour de Farce ( https://theadventuresyndicate.com/le-tour-de-farce ). I'm still hoping to write down something more substantial in a blog or make a zine, but who knows when this is going to happen...
I am travelling to Inverness from Berlin byfFerry and train, and passing though the Cairngorms by bike to get some authentic bothy experience.
We get a day that's pretty stormy, with occasional rain. Nevertheless, the views into the valley and the hike out of it are very much worth the hard effort.
On Wednesday we get sort of a rest day. There's some riding challenges to choose, or a painting and baking competition.
Thursday it's a full day of riding again. I get up early, now everyone can choose their start time. I had some issues with gear, and decide to start at 6:30. We hike through Torridon and Glen Ling, two staples of the Highland Trail route.
On Friday we depart from the Highland Trail route to get to Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula. This includes another hike up one valley, plus one pretty horrendous hike-a-bike.
All worth it in the end. I make it to the pub where the event finishes.
Some of us decide to spend Saturday on Knoydart, and are having the most relaxed day. We see riders leave that are taking an earlier ferry, go to the sauna, the pub, and enjoy "island life". (Knoydart is pretty cut off from traffic.) On Sunday I'm taking the train to Fort William, to slowly ride back home.

We meet on Sunday afternoon at the Youth Hostel in Inverness to get to know each other, and doing a group start on Monday morning. First stage is mostly gravel to Ullapool. On the last section of the day we do our first river crossing.
On Tuesday we start with a boat ride across Loch Broom. First there's some gravel pushs, then THE river crossing, then a proper hike-a-bike into Fisherfield, the highlight of the trip.
