not sure if this info is useful for anyone, but if you want to look into which controllers to make sure your game supports on Steam (and the icon glyphs too maybe). 58% of my game play sessions are using a controller, majority with an Xbox controller followed by Steam Deck.
@shivoa @djlink I am how many people. For example I used the Wii U pro controller for the longest time like this. But I don't care if games show me Xbox glyphs when I do. It's on me, I'm doing the fooling. So your support considerations shouldn't take it into account.
Though Elden ring has an interesting strategy where it detects glyphs automatically whenever you input anything (including moving the mouse) but lets you override that.
@fabiosantoscode @djlink Ye, I've seen several games that do glyph autodetect and then also have an override (and plenty more games that have mods to swap textures if this is not available). Presumably because a meaningful percentage of people want specific glyphs (be that due to gamepad masking via shim or just familiarity despite holding a different physical device).
If you do that gamepad/mouse+kb hotswap glyphs stuff, make sure the code can't get bogged down. https://youtu.be/QcSZ8BsOnbk

@shivoa not sure, I wonder if Steam still picks it up as PS anyway via devices plugged in? or does it change the ID completely?
@djlink Interesting, although I wonder how many people are using a shim like DualSenseX to translate their DualSense to Xbox (as many games lack good support natively and not everyone on Steam is only ever going to use Steam to game so may want a cross-store solution that is always turned on).
