More annual disappointment/having to decline all private Autumn/Winter events that I'm invited to because people are still not hosting covid safe indoor events. I'm unable to attend any unsafe/unmasked events.

It's kinda ironic how some folks keep sending me invites to unsafe private events to try to include me but it serves to remind me how they know full well(from past conversations) that unmasked indoor events automatically exclude me from being able to attend. So it's not inclusionary in reality at all. Things like that comes off more like trying to deal with their own ongoing ableism guilt instead of doing the work to not enable more ableism/unsafe events.

I think also, because they don’t allow themselves to see this as a real issue, but only as some kind of irrational delusion of ours, they feel generous to let us know we’re still welcome whenever we finally snap out of it. This doesn’t come across the way they think it will.

Me: We’ve talked about it before, and you don’t usually like it when I explain this to you. If you don’t want to hear it again, you shouldn’t ask—Are you sure you want to know?

Them: Yes, I want to know.

Going to have to figure this out for myself at a bat mitzvah soon. I've long since become used to one-way masking but the food part is going to be difficult.

@richpuchalsky I've had to miss lots of events involving eating food indoors with a bunch of people. I've taken food plates & eaten by myself outdoors or in a separate room, away from the crowd. I barely ever attend any indoor events anymore though. They are too high risk. I need to keep myself & Mom as safe as possible.
