TLDR - Tool had a shitty cop that everybody hated. An old lady got attacked in her trailer in April. Shitty cop decided that it'd be most prudent to let the guy go ahead and stab the lady to death before taking action. Cop got fired five months later.
Or, as we call it here in Texas, he "did a Uvalde" and now the city's got a wrongful death lawsuit.

The city immediately north of us (Seven Points TX) handed over their law enforcement department to the county because they couldn't maintain a police force.
The city immediately south of us (Trinidad TX) had its police force dissolved by the Texas AG last month for failing to meet minimum standards.
There is, quite literally, no law enforcement around here. Ain't nobody worried about anyone sneaking into a pool :)
