This week, I have repeatedly made the mistake of talking politics with friends who are liberals in the offline world.
Each time, I discover that I wind up just as angry and/or depressed afterwards as when I had discussed politics with my now estranged right wing family in the 1990s.
I find the familiarity of the two sets of experiences to be telling.
Just another depressing notion shared on a Friday, I guess.

I deliberately moved to a univ town for many reasons
but among those:
the perception that it was a 'hotbed of liberalism embedded in a conservative region'
ok, that's me!
With noted exceptions,
I found the oft-referred-to 'liberal' community utterly rigid & opaque.
I show up for stuff,
I'm involved, etc
We had a newspaper
I sat the board
watched it tear itself apart over 4 months, after a grant expiration
sad loss
dysfunctional
this is how 'they' win

@timberwraith This is why I largely avoid talking politics around liberal type folks offline, in general. I get nowhere except frustrated & they're not worth increasing my blood pressure.
