@cwebber My former employer hired Brad Frost's team as a consultant and they burned a bunch of money to give us a thin wrapper around a LLM, that introduced a dependency on their own server, and gave us "code" that was a bunch of hardcoded prompts.

So brittle, sloppy, constantly outdated, vendor lock-in, and nonreproducible.

If it wasnt for the 500 character post limit I would have even more bad things to say.

It also bothers me because the industry has found a way to charge rent for open source, something we used to own. Now there's nothing left.

And they can yank the lease as soon as we disobey.
