ive started doing random verbal trivia checks at work on people at work to confirm that they know some critical baseline knowledge requirements for doing certain tasks (haha among us reference)
nobody can answer them????????
its not like "if X and Y and Z then what values must you know by heart", but rather, if X, then what do you have to pay attention to/double check in finalizing financial documents?
like the question will be: "If the minimum value of X in any situation is at least 4, never less, and the value is now Y, what will X be"
they wont even blink before they answer "X is now 2"

hope i can soon start sitting in interviews again as consultant, because hearing the technical guy go "so you have 3y experience with that enterprise software. what's the two types of installations there are? (cloud, on-prem)" and the candidate getting lost are my favorite.
