Seeing these toots, & since designing my own language is on my mind:
I kind of doubt my (Functional Programming) approach happens to be the same as @hipsterelectron 's, but I am aiming to achieve excellence in both usability & safety! It doesn't have to be a dichotomy!
Sure, when done poorly safety-checks can be a burden. But what about all the potential devs who get demotivated when their programs don't work?
@alcinnz @hipsterelectron I feel it because I also try to convince people about safety through better engineering practices and it always seems to fall on deaf ears. I think they hear "more work" and think "sounds hard", without thinking of the shitstorm coming when they ship defects on the reg.
