My husband keeps making fun of me for wearing these shoes but I swear they've got at least one walk left in them.
on a rainy day I walked the dog in my dog-walking shoes and my feet got wet because of the holes in my soles . . . now my dog can only pee when it's dry out . . .
@Alice my mouse of around 20 years stopped working a few weeks ago and I was really sad about it. I understand this attachment.
@Alice I try to take shoe glue and "retread" the shoes in the worn-down spots before this happens.
@Alice@beige.partyaybe I think what you should do is create a sculpture with them. You could encapsulate them in transparent epoxy recreating one of the happiest moments in their lives. It would be them over a piece of tarmac, that moment on your walk where the back foot just became the front foot, but the sole isn't fully on the ground yet and the now back foot just passed by, hanging in mid air. On the floor there's a chewing gum and slightly to the right an autumn leaf, with beautiful shades of red and brown
His main point of contention is that I have three other pairs of the exact same type of shoes with perfectly good soles, but I keep going back to the yellow pair (because it's the best pair).
Modern athletic shoes have crap soles. You probably didn't wear these for more than a month of days.
@Alice before I even saw this part, I thought “If I ever found a pair of shoes I liked with that yellow on them I’d wear them down to my ankles.”
@Alice love my tigers. I’m down to two pair and it stresses me out how much more expensive they are now. One of my pairs get used only for work trabel- still great “hotel and office carpet” shoes.
@ivan3bx Oh, for real. I bought all of mine years ago when they were averaging about $85 a pair and that was still kind of expensive for me. This whole $180/pair thing is wild.
I’m just waiting for Gen Z/Alpha to say they're "cringe" so I can get my favorite shoes back to a reasonable price.
@Alice i had a pair of these when i was 24 or 25, they killed my feet and i never bought another pair (i also have super high arches and shoes without arch support...are painful)
@emily_rugburn I also have high arches, but I've worn nothing but Converse Allstars, Old Skool Vans, and Onitsuka Tigers since I was about 13, so 30+ years. I’m okay for now and think they're all comfortable and I walk a LOT, but I’m sure it will eventually catch up with me.
@Alice My wife is also a big fan of the Onitsuka Tigers.
@Alice I do similarly, but I draw the line at holes in the soles. Don't like that icky cold seepage that results. 😂
In my defense, I tend to favor the yellow Onitsuka Tigers with the holes in the soles because they match my yellow Fjällräven purse which also has a hole.
Which is funny because I also have two other perfectly good Fjällräven purses in different colors that would also match the other perfectly good Onitsuka Tigers.
@Alice send them to a cobblers? New lease of life on them then =D
@Alice complete the look by adding more yellow clothes with more holes; voilà!
@MartinTaudio It's funny you mention that because I also have a yellow cardigan with a hole at a seam and I also have like 5 other colors in the same cardigan that I wear way less.
But I don’t wear the yellow cardigan with the yellow purse because that would be too matchy matchy.
Fjällräven is little known in my country, but I'm considering a pricey backpack of theirs. How good are the purses?
@leonardof To be honest, they're not the best quality. It's pretty much just canvas and they do tear, but I tend to favor them because I like their minimal design.
@Alice my wife is the same.
@Alice
According to the wear pattern, you may have an issue with your lumbar silliactus. You should have that checked.
@Alice Until you can tell if a coin is heads or tails whilst standing on it, the shoes are fine.
@Alice I'm also like this; like you; I meant.
@Alice I had the most comfortable shoes ever in 1978. And I wish I had gotten a dozen pairs of them.
@Alice just put some cardboard in the bottom. theyll be fine.
@emily_rugburn I have an insole in there (which is what you're seeing through the bottom). 🤣
@4d3fect Yep! Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 slip-ons, specifically.
@Alice I mean, they are as beautiful as a work of art, so i get it.
@Alice just one more walk bro ignore the holes bro those pieces of gravel will make your soles stronger bro people used to build up calluses by walking barefoot bro just use us as garden shoes bro it's like zero-gravity shoes bro
