I am out of emotional spoons to deal with anything involving computer right now. The whole world of computer is worse than it ever has been and people keep making it worse on purpose.
So I'm gonna share a hot take on something else.

@xgranade you said you were going to talk about something else than computers and yet you keep mentioning sets that have undefined behaviour
Take the Star Trek UB set. I was a playtester for that set a couple years ago, and the NDA has since expired, so I can say now that it was a joy to watch Magic designers who previously did not give one shit about Star Trek watching us playtesters have the time of our lives. There was one designer who, when she was brought onto the set, *watched every episode of every series* because she knew it was something people cared about and she said she wanted to do right by that.
@xgranade Yeah, but it's like. As a kid I memorized the MtG encyclopedia and learned the lore via reading flavour text. (I read them flavour text of every card printed before Apocalypse about 4 times.
I *cared* about the wizards duel framing of matches. @WizardOfDocs can tell you I was REALLY annoyed at post ~10th edition sets for caring more about the lore and novels them actually being things you could cast in a wizard's duel.
@Canageek @WizardOfDocs That's one reason I said what I did in terms of empty negativity. I don't think you're being a troll when you're negative about UB, but just thinking about the folks in (for example) Ben Bateman's replies who are just being absolute dicks.
@xgranade @WizardOfDocs ahhhh, that's fair.
(I also have a rant about how the named Eldrazi shouldn't have been cards, since even pre-Mending planeswalkers couldn't summon them)
@xgranade @WizardOfDocs You literally can never get that back in Commander now as you've got a bunch of Science Fiction bullshit in there that doesn't make sense in a Wuzel's story framing.
I am tired of empty negativity about UB sets in MtG. Like, it's a corporate product by a company that does some heinous shit, let's start there. And UB sets are born into life when two beancounters love each others' beans very much.
But ultimately the job of making a new set lands in someone's lap, and my experience is that no matter how ridiculous that premise is, there's people who care about you caring about things.
