Watching a Predator (the scifi) YouTube essay in the bkg while I game. Know what's weird?
The Predators are presented as this powerful, deadly warrior race. But in most (all?) films, their first kills that establish this threat are when they are completely invisible.
Like... yeah, anyone or thing could probably kill their prey without much effort if they were completely invisible.
Does that seem weird? Seems weird.
@chartier I feel like the first Predator movie was meant to mock action movies, but has been inflated to a level of cultural seriousness that none of its sequels have been able to imitate its satire. So now you just get inferior Alien movies ad infinitum.
@nathansnelgrove Huh, never thought about the mock/satire angle. Now I'm curious to dig around to see if that's true.

@chartier@toot.cafe Yeah, it's not exactly sporting to have that kind of advantage. If anything, Predators are kind of like hillbillies that have bought way too much military hardware, and are now itching to use it on the first animal they come across.
