Make me dictator and I *promise* to get autistic with it
No more base 60/60/12/24 time. It's getting decimalized. Or possibly base 8 or 16? I'll set up a bunch of mathematicians and psychologists to work on it. BUT NO ASTRONOMERS. I've SEEN what they think reasonably units to use are.
@Canageek
What you want is the French Republican Calendar:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Republican_calendar
And of course Swatch Internet Time
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swatch_Internet_Time
Now, convincing everyone to use them should be simple, because they are logically obvious.
@mdhughes I was thinking of using start the French revolutionary calendar as a starting point, but I want some modern mathematicians going over it to check it for lingering stupidity, a lot of seemingly good ideas with mathematical gotchas came out of that era
@Canageek The intercalary half-week is a little fussy, but makes adding leap days or seconds easier. Financially I think it should be considered free, no rent, taxes, interest, or fees can be charged for it. Just blip 12/30 to 1/1.
@Canageek julian day numbers oof
@LottieVixen Revised Julian is essentially the same as the Gregorian, but with less drift over time due to better assignment of leap years

Same with the calendar. We might switch to Revised Julian, but we also might get something totally new. I would set up a commission. But having OCTober and DECember not be the 8th and 10th month is BAD.
Likewise, why is one month way shorter then the others? That is bad.
Will the new calender have intercalary days? Probably! And they will be holidays that you get 4x pay if you have to work to ensure only ESSENTIAL workers work that day
