This legislation was a not-insignificant factor in me deciding to pack it in and focus on my health instead, as to make up the lost revenue I'd have had to completely run myself into the ground and I was doing a pretty good job of that already.
It meant what was already a litany of challenges that were difficult to cope with became insurmountable.
@babe I stopped selling to the EU after BREXIT. About half of my sales came from there.
Even some people I know who run large businesses were blindsided by it. The communication was beyond dire.
@babe The absent comms were one thing, but I found it "hilarious" how some official institutions just threw up their hands saying they lack clarity and/or the regulation is unenforceable as is... Yet, it's been rolled out anyway and it's rare to see this amount of widespread damage and confusion caused by a single piece of regulation. I can't help wondering what exactly are the people responsible were thinking/aiming for with this all. It just makes zero sense!
@toxi We're all just expected to comply, and for a lot of people just understanding how to is A Task.
I'm pretty good at reading policy and it still took me a few days just to hunt down the information I needed to understand exactly what my responsibilities and options were (alongside the EPR)

@babe yep, we've banned Europe from our shop entirely, we can not charge people enough to make it worth it. Even the USA with the tariff bullshit is easier to deal with than this stuff.
