> Drivers will no longer need planning permission to install cross-pavement chargers which run under pavements from people’s homes to their cars.
@neil that's nice, but my council doesn't allow them on safety grounds (and they own the pavement) so planning permission was never a barrier.
@fak I wonder if they will be required to change that stance or not!
@neil well it's all a hodge podge depending on where you live. Some councils suggest using ramps with cable gullies in them, others say you absolutely can't do even that.
I signed up for a trial with mine for gullies in the pavement (which has already been postponed until next year) and they warned that if selected installation it would be thousands of pounds. That I'd have to pay, even though they got government funding for the trial.
@neil Incredible how quickly they can legislate something for cars, yet they can't do the same for privately owned scooters. Almost like the car industry has some kind of influence /s
@andycarolan to allow people to ride them on the road (as opposed to rules about installing chargers for them)?
@neil That's great! Now give me a way of reliably getting the parking place outside my house so I can use it.
