What to make of this latest WSJ report that it was Musk who ordered the 'kill switch' on Starlink in Ukraine.
Perhaps the single most important revelation from this report is that a major national security military decision was executed by a private individual completely sidestepping the US military command.
The second thing to note is that US officials seem to be throwing Musk under the bus now that the action is to blame for numerous deaths.

From reading between the lines of these multiple reports it now seems like the most likely scenario is that Musk talked to Trump about hitting the kill switch on Starlink (Starshield). It is not clear what Trump said to Musk, but Musk, not the US military, then went and ordered the slowdown. Unless Musk has receipts, which knowing Trump is very doubtful, it seems like this may come down to the legal basis upon which Musk could order such a deadly change in US military operations.
