I wish I had someone to play with. ☹️
@woozle Somebody to give half a shit I guess.
Which I know I don't deserve. Nobody just automatically deserves attention. you have to earn it. And if my shit isn't good enough that's just the way it is. I shouldn't whine.
@researchbuzz It's not that it's not good enough; that is [I want to say "objectively" but I think a generic intensity-amplifier adverb would be more accurate] ridiculous.
It's just a little specialized for most folks. It is nonetheless very good and I am rather in awe at times. ...partly because a lot of it is over my ADHD head; I might be able to take it in properly if it were the only thing I was focusing on... but right now I have my own special-interest-children* to attempt (and often fail) to focus on... while the rest of my idea-children sit starving in the backroom, waiting for me to have time for them...
...speaking of feelings of inadequacy 😅
(* metaphorical children -- although the ex-children living here to whom'st I was a co-parent are also AuDHD and have their own special interests as well, so the phrase is also true in that respect.)
@woozle I try to share with journalists, teachers, somebody I think would try to find it useful, and they just blank on me.
It's okay, I know I'm niche and weird, it doesn't matter.
That's not a you-deficit, though.
It's a problem in that it leaves you isolated, but it's not the sort of problem that means you're inadequate or broken. It's a format-compatibility issue, which is something many/most of us neuroweirdos have to deal with... if that wasn't obvious.
"Feeling disconnected" has been a frequent topic of discussion in my therapy-sessions, fwiw. My partner has these weekly meet-ups with her fiber-arts (aka knitting-and-stuff-like-that) group, who are pretty much all really smart neurodivergent women who I'd be friends with in a heartbeat -- but their interests are generally not my interests, even though we have a lot of overlapping oddities (e.g. I can make science or math jokes, and enough people will get them for it to be worthwhile), so I still can't start babbling about my problems with the design of process-derived-I/O-stream management classes in PHP and expect any eyes to not glaze over.
So whatza girl to do? Still working on that...
@researchbuzz Play with numbers an' stuff?
