Referendum results will be here: https://results.elections.ab.ca/8400
I know it's still early, but I am disappointed that as many as 20% of votes are for a referendum. I did not think there were that many gullible / stupid / easily-manipulable people in Alberta. Maybe I was too optimistic.
@cazabon we spent the weekend in Calgary and the billboards, Alberta flags along the highway 2 fenceline, etc was pretty clear.
I'm working on mapping the vote to dollars and it should be ready by morning: https://mstdn.ca/@chad/117471844224342042
No one voted at poll 003 in Edmonton-Glenora?
@chad I checked a CTV livestream a little while ago, and they said at (10:45?) that time, no results in yet... just slow- I guess as you said with some polls open late..
@chad that was one of the ones that wasn’t going to close until after 10 pm, so they won’t have anything counted yet
The "Valid Votes Cast Across 10 Questions" is actually a count of each individual ballot.
We're actually closer to 41% turnout right now.
Based on what is counted so far, I think we're trending closer to 72%.
I'll still keep this post updated.
CTV and CBC calling an obvious landslide victory for Option 1.
Vive la Canada!!

@chad it seems this election could have historical numbers and that the votes have to be hand counted
I'm guessing that's one where they didn't plan appropriately for the First Nations' turnout.
@ElwoodCity @chad Yep. If they were assuming similar turnout to the last provincial election, then that would explain why those are the places running out of ballots. Everywhere seems to be getting higher turnout than a normal provincial election, but lots of folks on First Nations reserves abstain from regular provincial/federal elections for various reasons so they tend to have very low turnout usually. But not for this.
@AmeliasBrain @ElwoodCity I think EA has been pretty transparent about their expectations that this could be the highest voter turnout in any election in decades.
@chad Seems like the much hyped #10 is, not that much? Requesting a later referendum. #1-5 seem more troubling, from my perspective.
@WhereTheFraserRiverFlows one of the seppie leaders just said anything more than 25% is considered a win to them.
@chad @WhereTheFraserRiverFlows
Corey Hogan said that on The House on Saturday, too.
I'm not worried about 51%.
It's the moral victory in the losing that bothers me.
According to CTV, Elections Alberta says that there's no results yet because a poll in Cardston-Siksika is still voting.
