If you are a fan of the Metroid Prime series, you may wholeheartedly agree with the idea that LLMs are basically Phazon.
• People leaving the tech industry are like the Chozo of Tallon IV, eschewing technology for a quieter life.
• Not all Chozo survived contact with the Leviathan Seed nor the Phazon which oozes out from it. Those that succumbed to such a fate are condemned to a tortured waking death from which only the Hatchling can free them.
• Phazon gives a euphoric feeling of power.
The Space Pirates would introduce Phazon to anything and everything they thought to: Enhancing their weaponry, the flora and fauna of Tallon IV, and even Metroids (which they already sought to capture, cultivate, reproduce and harness).
Their researchers took extensive logs of the effects of Phazon on their specimens: Increased aggression, high rates of cell division, psychosis, and frequently, death. Nonetheless, they would force Phazon upon their own ranks, hoping to produce elite soldiers.
Phazon is highly toxic, radioactive, and quickly reproduces. The Galactic Federation identified various other planets where Leviathan Seeds like that of Tallon IV brought calamity. Of course, a Space Pirate homeworld planet quickly pivoted to industry around the exploitation of this "free" source of Phazon.
The Galactic Federation's outpost on Norion was a destination for one of these Leviathan Seeds. Samus Aran and other Bounty Hunters were on site to attempt to neutralise this threat.
@xan holy shit you're right
@xan And also, at the very same time, LLMs manage to be the X Parasite, and especially SA-X
@xan I remember thinking that the X parasite and SA-X especially was implausible.
Me, playing Metroid Fusion in college: A cold, dead-eyed fascimilie that looks and acts just like what it was mimicing but had no life behind it, no care, no will other than to reproduce and fill the world with misery? What bad writing!
2026: Oh
@xan Also "The X Parasite"
a little on the nose, actually

The Space Pirates were among the first to capitalise on Phazon. While they are a people of singleminded greed and resolve to conquer the galaxy, they excelled in morally questionable scientific endeavours. Of course the Impact Crater on Tallon IV was an obvious site around which an outpost replete with research and mining facilities would develop.
The Galactic Federation also took an interest of their own in military, industrial, and energy applications of Phazon.
