@Mastodon It's gross and I hate it. why this little pop up window to type a reply. I have to look down here for this shit now on advanced mode?
WHY?
Just... why? What's with all the rounded corners?
Change for the sake of change is not a good enough reason.
Just... give us an option to have the old design back.
@Mastodon It just went live. Where is dark mode?! Purple isn't dark mode. This is horrible.
@Mastodon 5.0 today at what rime (CEST)? By the way, I'm on v4.8.0-alpha.3+pr-41085-a68fedb right now.
@Mastodon Err. When on Tuesday?
I still have the existing interface here.
I was geared up (with gritted teeth) for the change.
I guess I have to wait a bit?
@Mastodon that's how I know I came to somehow hate modern computing : my first thought reading this was "oh, no"
@Mastodon I like shiny new things and the new Firefox no the theme wasn’t that bad even though everyone was complaining so I welcome new change. I welcome new UI. Let’s do this. Let’s do this together.!
@Mastodon I'm excited to go to bed and wake up to a new Mastodon tomorrow. 🥱
@Mastodon [whining] But I don't want to sign up for yet another account to provide feedback about the Mastodon redesign.

@Mastodon looking forward to trying the new version out!
@Mastodon
Please add the option to display the post window the way it used to be.
Why does it feel like a corporate push and not a community effort...?
3 issues that strike me right away
1. A 1 day switch to a markedly different UI without any calls for feedback on the decisions made and implemented.
2. Having 5 or 50 color themes is pointless if none are 'dark' flavored. Blowing out my eyes with bright and unreadable presentations doesn't help.
3. Discourse as a feedback mechanism means yet another account to create and maintain, and Discourse! Really?!?
@Gargron @lumiworx @Mastodon
Re:
> Also, all color schemes come with light and dark mode.
I'm looking at the advanced mode's dark mode for blue right now, and whoever told you this is a 'dark mode' lied to you.
It's so bright.
Why are the majority panels bright and the side panel is the 'dark' bit? This is the inverse of what you want in a dark mode.
Feels like a hostile design choice. Just... *pinches bridge of nose* let us turn it off? Esp. rounded corners?
@DarkestKale @lumiworx @Mastodon It's not up to me. Please submit your feedback on community.joinmastodon.org.
When you (collectively) just literally announced 10 hours ago that there will be a "new community forum" dedicated to Mastodon feedback, and even while following the main Mastodon and several dev accounts, i don't recall seeing any mention that input was collected and put into a plan of what may come next.
Forgive me if I missed it, and seems I also missed any mention of what would be arriving and how/when feature feedback would be accepted for those coming changes.
@lumiworx I'm talking about the input process (Discovery Week), not the forum, which is really just one of many ways you can give feedback. You can read up on the product changes on our blog. Sorry you did not feel involved but we've been communicating about these very changes for months, in a much more transparent way than most projects. @Mastodon
@Mastodon I think it looks good, though I'm not sure what is gained by some of it so far (see below). But everyone's a critic and UX design is harder than it looks, so props to the crew here.
Wondering why the most-used navigational elements were moved to the left side, which as I understand it requires more manual dexterity (to wrangle mice and scrollwheels) just to communicate. Maybe we could add disableds and elders to the design crew so we don't inadvertently add useability barriers.

@Mastodon You need to give users the old theme as an option. The new one looks horrible. Too much white space and rounded corners are ugly. Thank goodness you didn't fall too deep into the ugly Google Material Design trap, although Mastodon is slowly turning into the dollar store version of it. Things looks like it is going to be harder for those with accessibility needs. I'm not looking forward to some of these elements with my Parkinson's. #Mastodon
