Personal opinion about open source
I took a break to have some distance. Coding was not a pleasure anymore, it was a duty. I had more and more the feeling that people were expecting things from me. Open source is not like I knew it. I feel we are each in our own corner. I have far fewer interactions with other devs than before. I see messages that are not honest for me. I stay silent, but it hurts me to not say the truth. (1/2)

I guess, this is a hard period for open source developers. Still, there is a great mass of people that is so grateful for your work - but silent, though. All the best for you and thank you very much for all your efforts 🤗
Personal opinion about open source
For me, open source is in danger. We are used to comfort and we forgot the people behind. Like when I receive a feature request with only a title and an empty message, like we are robots without soul. All this is becoming toxic for me. I want to shout a truth, my truth: we are killing what we think we support. (2/2)

I've allready wrote you my thankfulness. But after I've read this toot I feel requested to do at least a donation via Liberapay today.
Unfortunately I can't help with work in practice, I'm not a dev. At most I could do some translations to german if needed.
I wish you the sun shining on every step you take.

@apps In the 2010's, I joined Kdenlive, developed by 1 person, helped by 2 or 3 other coming and going… It was near to stop. Then he was invited to *join a community*, KDE… I feel this really changed a lot the story. Since then, many people take care: a web team helps on the site, translation team takes care of the languages, bug triaging team filters the reports, and so on… In gatherings, people can share their doubts, their joys…
Could you find such a family?

I had no idea things were getting so wrong.
There have always been ingrate idiots that think they are entitled to... things. Especially in some places, like Google Play comments.
The obvious answer is to ignore or block, but that's easy to say.
Good look with your break.
The first thing an open source developer has to worry about is his own well-being. Everything else falls if you fall.
@apps Feels like corporate dev, right? Instead of passion projects now we have pressure to deliver, fix, add. It is no longer "I did a thing and I am making it open in case someone else also finds it useful".

@apps I fully appreciate and always appreciated your work. The dedication that you impressed me. If you lost joy it is more than understandable that you want to slow down or take a break.
AI is killing open source and that's a bad thing we probably did not yet fully woke up to.
