This is a per-account setting. If you use multiple accounts, you need to visit the notifications settings with every account. I can't think of any other reason for this to happen. It's unprecedented.

Yes, in Fedilab (settings --> notifications). The settings are shown for the account you are currently using.

Okay thanks! I'm still wondering though, could this be an issue with Sunup instead? I mean the notification specifically speaks about new app registrations and it indeed is a Sunup notification, not a Fedilab notification.
Anyway, which one of the notification settings should I be looking for at the Fedilab side? I don't want to disable notifications about mentions etc.
Sorry, like I said I haven't really done my homework on this.
@shadowdancer
I misunderstood. Sorry. I thought you meant notifications for followers.
You can deactivate the relevant notification category (something like "background service", that's what it's called in ntfy) in the Android notifitations setting.

Okay, I switched "Foreground service" to off for Sunup from Android settings. Let's see if it has any effect.
However, I do think there might be a bug in Sunup as the app itself has a setting to disable notifications about new app registrations (as in the screenshot).
It appears as if it doesn't work to disable it.
@shadowdancer
This notification is an Android requirement to stay connected to a server. The setting you are talking about is about small dialogs (toasts) shown when an application registers a new "account".
Would it help if this notification didn't contain the number of registrations ?

Hi! I am sorry, I think I've lost track. Can you please clarify which notification is required for staying connected to the server? Are you referring to the Sunup notification about new app registrations? Should I turn it on?
FWIW I haven't seen this notification anymore after setting "Foreground service" to false for Sunup so my original issue with repeated notifications seems to have been resolved.

The application must publish that notification but the user can disable it. I'm asking to know if I can reduce confusion for new users

Ah, so you're looking at this from the Sunup side. Well I'm not really sure, I guess the notification being disabled by default is not an option?
If not, maybe in the toast if it could have something about the registered app (Fedilab in this case)? And I would leave the number of registrations out if they're all for the same app. I think it is a bit confusing.

The developers of my mobile payment app named the notification category "this can be disabled".

Hi!
Thanks, I indeed do operate 4 different accounts with Fedilab.
I know I should probably do my homework on this, but do you mean notification settings in the Fedilab app for each account? I don't see any account specific settings in Sunup..
