Laid down some tracks for a song today, inspired by more dark lyrics in the vein of “What Will It Take” by sknot (sknob’s dark alter ego?), so if and when I manage to record them to my satisfaction, I’ll probably release the song under that moniker. Or sknot. We’ll see…

I forgot to update you. Finished the track about 10 days ago, and it is now waiting to be properly mastered by somebody competent before release.
Working on another track that would be at home on my Offbeat album, which I don’t want to update, and which is not quite dark or angry enough to be a comfy fit for #sknot.

Made good progress on the not quite #sknot track today.
Laid down some vocals today. They are going to be hard to mix in a busy, buzzy arrangement… #sknot
Cleaned up some mouth noises and made a fairly decent mix I think. Still one bit where the vocals are possibly a bit buried in the busy arrangement, but I might learn to live with it. We’ll see. Time to let it rest. #sknot
It’s funny because I often have a hard time deciphering lyrics in songs, and I’m always wondering if it’s just me. I try to get to a place where I think I could decipher them without too much effort if I couldn’t read the lyrics somewhere.
@sknob your lyrics are usually very hearable (that is a word now), so I think even in what is a somewhat busy arrangement by your standards, I bet it's still pretty decipherable :)
@bazkie it’s the hardest part of every mix for me. I generally boost the levels of the voice more than I’d like, because I’m not a very good singer which means you hear all the warts, plus it ends up overshadowing details I’m fond of in the arrangement, but then I remind myself it’s a song with words that are meant to be hearable. Sigh 😅
