In the upcoming 46 days all our #Mastodon instance domains also needs to be renewed
mstdn.social, masto.ai & mastodon.coffee
Since .ai has a min of 2 years the total amount will be $238.52 USD for all domains
Yesterday also got a mail that unfortunately we didn’t make it for funding via NLNet oof
Anyone maybe any ideas for funding or something like that? Adding a paid option to the network is not an option sorry, it has to be optional❤️
@stux As someone who donates monthly to you I mean this as well intended as possible, but do enough people use Loops that it’s worth it to continue offering that service? Can you verify you’re getting donations off it? Maybe it’s time to scale something back? I also don’t think it’s inappropriate to charge users for your labor unless they can show they’re unable to contribute. If everyone donate $1 you’d be fine
@stux I paypal-ed some cash a minute ago. I don't mind a bit helping cover admin's costs and I bet most other Mastodonians don't either. Just let us know (as you have this time) when you need it!

@stux
I could imagine three pillars:
Paid premium features
- for power users / professionals
like longer toots, special emojis, a "supporter" badge or something like that
Merch
- for people who want to pay but want to get "something" in return
