@ArloJamesBarnes Thank you very much for pointing it Arlo James Barnes. I'll reply there.
And TIL about https://www.humanscommons.org/
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org You're server is down and unresponsive
@img Thank you, yes, I saw in the log; something happened to my hosting for 20 min, but it was recovered after that. Thank you for reporting it!
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org
Evening young man, the problem persist in my end as the connection still times out.
@img Oh no. So it might be regional, or something with the CDN. Can you give me (very approx, and can be in DM) the region of the world where your internet service provider connects? I'll try to reset/refresh this specific part of the CDN. It might be stuck in a loop. THank you for the feedback!
@davidrevoy
Your comics are amazing and I love them. Sad to see them (ab)used like that. The current situation is hard.
But on the other hand, your art and art of a few more artists together with the current situation persuaded me to find an artist in myself.
@downey Hey, yes, pretty closely. It sounds really like CC is trying to facilitate the training of Wikipedia or big CC archive; and sort of only work with these type of big actors, owners of big catalog of content, and the entreprise who desire to train on that. With a clear bias to get subsidies from AI company and help them to train (my opinion).
But the artist of the web, the content creator? They know money doesn't come from them... Our request or needs to protect are simply ignored.
@downey Anyway, in a world where you can't even protect a content with classic ©Copyright anymore, hoping that Creative Commons could do something is naïve anyway.
@davidrevoy The absolute lack of any sort of self-awareness by the person who thought it'd be a good idea to AI-slop up your Avian Intelligence comics. what *entirely* the hell
@davidrevoy This is disappointing to see, I hope it ends up being worth it.
@davidrevoy I wonder how many of us chose Creative Common licenses with the obvious thinking that those licenses would forbid AI use?
@davidrevoy I don't get why meat puppets submit to the machine in the first place. But I extra don't get *sending you* the results.
If I was making garbage of someone's work, I'd just keep it to myself, or sell it without notice if I had no ethics.
@mdhughes Well, I was also curious, I engaged into discussion with some of them. In short, they really think they are advanced tech user from the future, and they have the charity of bringing the "fire" to the poor caveman I am, still doing things manually. They pity my effort and hours, and my long years of continuous training; and are in contrast super proud of what they can achieve. They often position themselves as "helpful" and don't understand when I go agressive or revolted 😆
@davidrevoy
AI girl is crying
Over an unbroken pumpkin
There are no tears
...lol
@davidrevoy I believe this new copyright license will not block who intend to block, and will just block who follow the rules.
That's the new trend on the Internet: tending to all rights reserved, or some restrictions reserved on the hope to stop LLM, but we are just stopping us from collaborating and LLM will do that anyway my friend.
@davidrevoy those generated images are revolting 😣
But the A.I. companies disagree, and that is what matters. / sarcasm, mostly.
The unfortunate reality is even Disney has been fighting against A.I. usage, but somehow they're always given a pass. The closest they got to "winning" was a settlement once.
Digital signatures can assert what work is yours, and what isn't, but that doesn't tackle the problem here.
While you express disappointment in CC not addressing the AI issue in their licensing structures, they did issue a statement about it last month, with upcoming dates for webinar discussion.
It may fall short of what you want, but here's the link:

@arfisk Thank you, yes, I'm a follower of the CC blog. I'm also often reacting to their post on mastodon, or alerting them since 2022/2023 to handle the situation, but they never reply or interact.
Sadly, I feel them pretty disconnected from the "artist and content creators" right now on Internet. I lost hope in them.
@davidrevoy wow, the ai colored version does actually look disgusting.
@davidrevoy
I was looking into this licence the other day. The "Filthy Human Hands" license.
Its not that anyone would care or respect licesnes anyway... But maybe this one can be useful somehow.
At the very least I appreciate the sentiment on that one.
@davidrevoy There's a thread at Wikimedia Commons discussing what this means for your art rehosted there: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/COM:village_pump/Copyright#License_change_for_David_Revoy's_Pepper_and_Carrot_and_other_works
