@mos_8502 @ernie Tbh, what matters is that the open-source implementation *exists*. Even if it's impossible to maintain because it's pure slop, at least we can theoretically reimplement some key features in other, better maintained projects.

My main concern is: well, this was cleanroom RE, but Adobe still holds a shitton of software patents on specific features. Is this really legal then?

@nullenvk @mos_8502 this project isn't smart enough to do this. But these apps are more or less the same as they were in 2004. So do the reimplementation based on THOSE versions, whose patents have at this point expired.

@mos_8502 I get that. I will note it doesn’t appear to be a 1:1 feature lift. The Photoshop riff doesn’t appear to support animated GIFs, which is kind of my barometer of how deep an image editor goes. But WOW. And the fact that these multi-hundred megabyte apps are now like 50-meg Rust apps? Insane.
