@mcc I chose "show results" because, although I would count a zoo sighting as valid, I truly cannot remember whether I've ever seen a penguin at one.
@mcc thanks for reminding me I need to take a trip back to the Boston aquarium.
@mcc Goddamn, I might have seen them, but I have no exact recolection, should I say yes or no.
@mcc Yes, but only in animal prison. They seem to deal with it OK, we don't hear of a lot of penguin escape rampages, but I want them to live in the wild.
@mcc Hangin with a jackass penguin. They’re so chill.
@mcc there’s a nightly parade of little penguins coming ashore during summer here in Victoria Aus
@mcc About ten years ago my wife and I had a special pass at seaworld in Florida and we got a behind the scenes tour of the penguin house. Up close visit with them and everything. It was great except it had been raining all day and we were both soaking wet and it was very very cold in their enclosure during the tour. We both came away with pneumonia. Totally bittersweet because they were awesome.
@mcc ...and not in a zoo 😉 been eyeball to eyeball with emperors, they are quite stunning 😍
@mcc at Sumida Aquarium in Tokyo! they had a lot of attitude and it was very fun.
@mcc Outside of zoos, here's me with some jackass penguins I saw in 2005.
@mcc Are zoos real life?
@ajroach42 @mcc are they just fantasy?
@mcc at the zoo. That’s sorta real life. I guess it’s also sorta not.
@ShiitakeToast it's real… zoos are real
@mcc @ShiitakeToast it’s not their natural habitat though.
Clarifications as I have been getting questions
- A penguin in a zoo or other captivity is A REAL PENGUIN
- A chocolate covered biscuit is NOT A REAL PENGUIN
