Had to be reminded that 🍑 Georgia’s incoming governor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, was the mayor of Atlanta who proposed Cop 🐷 City. https://www.11alive.com/article/news/politics/atlanta-mayor-keisha-lance-bottoms-cop-city-support/85-d35c65e1-0683-4ba8-af21-ac891d9a1476

@woozle People are reasonably excited about Tuesday, but I am ready to see some "violence". I want to see a real effort to 86 Hakeem (& Chuck, although I don't know if that's feasible). Let's start there...
I'm expecting nothing from KLB, but I'd argue Atlanta and Georgia and USA owe a debt to Tortuguita's family & comrades.
@woozle That was a somewhat incoherent post, but you know me just well enough to know unhingedly angry I get.
@amcooper Is "administrative violence" a phrase? Maybe that's what we should be calling for: stay within the law, but violate important established conventions as they have been violated unto us; amen. The establishment shall not keep ye safe if ye have done dirty.
@woozle Yeah yeah. Because the established convention is that everyone quieten down while Hakeem reaches across the aisle to our slavery-nostalgic compatriots, and violating it means choosing a candidate (say, Rashida) and publicly declaring that they won't vote for Hakeem. And be willing to compromise on someone who, at the very least, isn't willing to dissipate the new Congress's power before it's seated.
Did I mention Hakeem used to be my rep?
@amcooper this video paints a more compassionate picture of why cop city was important to her. I can’t say, bc I don’t know how it’s working for people there but it seems like she’d be coming from the right place and Black people and the state voted for her. https://youtu.be/SJ1r1v6iv1E
Her Father's Arrest Changed Everything: Who Is Keisha Lance Bottoms?
YouTube
@JoBlakely Gov.-elect Bottoms seems to have a very different view of criminal justice than I do. Besides Cop City, the tell would be that her response to her father's arrest does not apparently include decriminalization. Add to that that "God told her to run for office", and I'm looking at, essentially, a conservative.
@amcooper That’s a fair. I agree with you. Shocking really she doesn’t.
@amcooper I was informed that there were some issues with her and it would have been far better if it were Stacy Abrams -- but maybe KLB will feel which way the wind is blowing, and step gently away from the fash?
