Found a website of UK constituency data that claims to let you "ask about MPs in natural language and get a correct answer". I asked what is the smallest constituency. That is slightly unfair because it could mean physical size, electorate, or population. But the site claimed to have the electorate as part of the base dataset. Despite having the electorate values, the site's LLM told me the answer was Lowestoft. It isn't. I asked the same question again and it said Sevenoaks (73,708). Still no.
@wnd It looks like you've looked at 2010-2024 constituencies. The big variation in population is what the Electoral Commission addressed in 2023 with the Boundary review.
@wnd e.g. Aberconwy isn't a constituency now. There is Bangor Aberconwy.
@wnd The EC aimed to get the populations/electorates much more similar. The constituencies that were allowed to be exempt were specific island constituencies e.g. Isle of Wight was split into two of ~55k rather than be one of ~110k.
I'm betting a bunch of actual humans on here could tell me which constituency has the smallest electorate.
A clue is that the Electoral Commission try to make constituencies have roughly the same population. But there are certain places where geography makes it hard or impractical to change a boundary so they are allowed to have smaller electorates.
Anyway, not being able to find the smallest entry in 650 numbers is another example of why LLMs are a bad choice to find reliable answers.
